Midd-West High School March 2025
Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as a Leader of the H.E.R.D. These students regularly exhibit one (or more) of the four-character traits of the H.E.R.D., being Helpful, Empathetic, Responsible, Driven, and contribute to Midd-West High School in a positive way.
The 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for March is Cooper Hostetler. He is the son of Gerald and Stacey Hostetler of Beaver Springs. Cooper was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he has a strong work ethic and participates daily in class discussions all while having a positive attitude toward learning and being friendly and helpful to his peers. His school activities include Dungeons and Dragons Club and Mixed Media Club. Outside of school, he enjoys being an active member of Troop 408. Cooper is a patient ambassador for Shriners Hospital and No White Flags. He attends Stony Run Mission and likes to spend time with family and friends. In the future, Cooper is considering the field of computer engineering or programing with a strong interest in robotics.
James Kerstetter is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for March. He is the son of James and Annette Kerstetter of Beavertown. In school, James participates in Football. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching sports, and playing football, basketball, and baseball with friends. After graduation, James plans to attend college to be a meteorologist or sports analyst. James was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is always on task, tries his best, asks for help or clarification when needed, and treats everyone with respect.
The 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for March is Graydon VanHorn. He is the son of Shannon and Christine VanHorn of Mount Pleasant Mills. Graydon was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a hard-working student who participates in class. In addition, he willingly stepped up and assisted the custodians during lunch when the trash cans were overflowing by helping get new trash cans ready. Graydon’s school activities include Football and Track and Field. Outside of school, he enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and participating in Boy Scouts. After graduation, Graydon would like to join the electrical union.
Grace Wanner is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for March. She is the daughter of Michael and Ashley Wanner of Middleburg. Grace is a member of the FFA. Her favorite classes are Chemistry in the Community, Art, Plant and Greenhouse Science, and Consumer Math. Her hobbies include freehand drawing, baking, making bracelets, and helping on her grandfather’s farm. She also enjoys animals, art, and music. In the future, Grace would like to open her own custom cabinet and lasering company and have a family. Grace was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is a respectful student who is thoughtful towards her peers and teachers. She is always participating in class and giving 100%.
The 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for March is Jacob Keister of Penns Creek. He is the son of Jeff and Jennifer Kuhns of Penns Creek. Jacob was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a hard worker who always puts forth his best effort. He is a part of the School to Work Program where he takes initiative, looks for tasks to be completed, and is not afraid to ask for help if needed. In the classroom, Jacob has shown maturity and advocates for himself and his needs. Jacob’s school activities include Puzzle Club and Board Games Club. His favorite class is Reading. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and doing outdoor activities with his family. After graduation, Jacob is planning to enter the work force.
