Midd-West High School March 2025 Young American
Midd-West High School’s Young American for March 2025 is Abigail Benner. She is the daughter of Troy and Jennifer Benner of Middleburg. Abigail’s leadership positions include being the Student Council President, Spanish Club Secretary, Senior Class Treasurer, Senior Board Representative, and a two-time Midd-West Field Hockey Captain. She is a member of DECA and the National Honor Society. Additionally, Abigail is in the Work Study Program with a placement at Geisinger in Lewisburg and Selinsgrove. She has been on the Distinguished Honor and Honor Rolls throughout high school. Abigail has received numerous awards in field hockey including being a 4-time Daily Item Field Hockey All-Star, 3-time HAC-II Field Hockey All-Star, HAC-I Field Hockey All-Star, 2-time All-State Field Hockey 2nd Team, Daily Item Scholar Athlete of the Week, and 2-time PHS Field Hockey Coaches Association GPA Award. This past field hockey season, Abigail broke the school record for most career goals scored. With 71 career goals, she is now the leading scorer at Midd-West. Abigail has given back to her community by being a Midd-West Outdoor Education Counselor for 5th Grade Camp, helping at the McClure food bank, and participating in a Tennessee mission trip with her youth group from the Paxtonville church. She enjoys playing field hockey, planting flowers, and working at her family business, Sunshine Shows, LLC, in the summer months. After graduation, Abigail plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to major in nursing and continue with her field hockey career. In the future, she plans to stay in the Susquehanna Valley as a nurse. Abigail believes she was selected as a Young American because of her involvement and dedication. In everything she does she strives to be the very best version of herself and puts forward her best efforts. One thing Abigail would like people to know about her is the importance of her faith in God. Always put God first in anything you do because with Him anything is possible.
