Midd-West High School October 2024
Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being a Leader of the H.E.R.D. These students regularly exhibit one (or more) of the four character traits of the H.E.R.D., being Helpful, Empathetic, Responsible, Driven, and contribute to Midd-West High School in a positive way.
The 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for October is Tanzania Seibel. She is the daughter of Kevin and Aimee Seibel of Middleburg. Tanzania was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is engaged in the lessons being taught, helpful to her peers, thoughtful, and considerate. Her school activities include Cross Country, Manager for Track and Field, Student Council, and Class Congress. Outside of school, Tanzania enjoys reading, going to youth group, and showing animals. In the future, Tanzania plans to attend the Dog Grooming School of Pennsylvania.
Ava Kline is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for October. She is the daughter of Michael and Monica Kline of Middleburg. In school, Ava is active in FFA. In her free time, she enjoys racing go-karts and riding horses. Ava was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is a quiet leader who is always willing to help when needed.
The 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for October is Cali Shaffer. She is the daughter of Cam and Angelina Shaffer of Middleburg. Cali was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is a quiet, hard-working student who is always willing to help when needed. Cali’s school activities include FFA, Livestock Judging, Chorus, and Thursday Morning Group. Outside of school, she enjoys being outside, riding and showing horses, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Cali is planning to go into a trade field.
Taner Kerstetter is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for October. He is the son of Staci and Clair Walls of Richfield and Scott and Treasa Kerstetter of Mt. Pleasant Mills. Taner participates in FFA and Baseball in school. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. In the future, Taner is planning to be a Diesel Mechanic. Taner was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he displays outstanding character and positivity, even when he is unaware that he is being observed. He is a true leader and outstanding role model who goes the extra mile to help his peers and make sure classmates are learning the concepts being taught.
The 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for October is Layla Brunson. She is the daughter of Will and Brittany Brunson of Middleburg. Layla was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is an honest student who takes pride in doing the right thing, keeps a positive attitude, and is willing to help and participate when asked. Layla’s school activities include Lacrosse, Golf, Spanish Club, DECA, Student Council, and Class Congress. Layla is in the Work Study Program with a placement at Geisinger Cancer Center in Selinsgrove. In her free time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, shopping for plants, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Layla is planning to attend college to become a Registered Nurse.
