Midd-West High School October 2024
Students of the Month
Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being Students of the Month. These are students who represent Midd-West High School well through their academics, attendance, involvement in activities, and good citizenship (responsible, hard-working, and dependable).
The 8th grade Student of the Month for October is Olivia Dorman. She is the daughter of Shawn and Stacey Dorman of Beaver Springs. Olivia was chosen as Student of the Month because she is a positive role model who strives to do her best every day and sets high personal standards. In addition, she is actively involved in multiple school activities. Olivia’s school activities include Junior High Softball and Student Council. Outside of school, she enjoys travel softball, pickleball, and dance. In the future, Olivia would like to attend a D1 college to play softball and major in Sports Engineering.
Katie Zimmerman is the 9th grade Student of the Month for October. She is the daughter of Roy and Nicole Zimmerman of Middleburg. In school, Katie participates in FFA, Livestock Judging, Field Hockey, Softball, and Thursday Morning Group. In her free time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, working with cattle, and hanging out with friends and family. Katie was selected as the Student of the Month because she is a respectful young lady who excels at her classwork, is always going above and beyond in her assignments, is involved in the school community, and is friendly to everyone.
The 10th grade Student of the Month for October is Maya Zechman. She is the daughter of Aaron and Bethany Zechman of Middleburg. Maya was selected as the Student of the Month because she is an excellent student who continues to challenge herself in her course load while she maintains a positive attitude by encouraging and supporting others. Maya’s school activities include Girls Soccer, Winter and Spring Track and Field, Student Council, Yearbook, National Honor Society, Class Congress, Choir, and Dream Learn Pitch. Outside of school, she enjoys participating in Youth Group and Worship Team, shopping, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Maya is planning to attend college to enter the medical field.
Alyssa Aucker is the 11th grade Student of the Month for October. She is the daughter of Angela Aucker of Middleburg. Alyssa participates in Bowling, Youth in Philanthropy, and serves as the Vice President of Key Club. She is in the Work Study program with a dual placement. One of Alyssa’s placements is at the Snyder County Courthouse in the probation office. Her supervisor is impressed with how she can process a lot of information and retain it. Alyssa’s other placement is at the Midd-West Middle School Library. She excels at keeping the library open to students where otherwise it would be closed. Alyssa enjoys bowling, doing community service projects, working, and reading. In the future, she is planning to attend college to study Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Alyssa was chosen as Student of the Month because she is a great all-around student who works hard in class and is willing to work with anyone. She gives exceptional attention to detail in all her assignments and cares about the school community.
The 12th grade Student of the Month for October is Brogan Plasterer. He is the son of Jon and Mary Plasterer of Beaver Springs. Brogan was chosen as Student of the Month because he spearheaded an effort to bring Esports to the Midd-West School District by sending multiple information-gathering emails, meeting with administration for approval before working through the process to receive MWSD Board approval. He is actively advertising the opportunity to students and building the team. Brogan is dually enrolled in Bloomsburg University’s CUEC program for his senior year while continuing to take two classes at Midd-West High School. In his free time, he enjoys working on his 3D art, making games, and playing video games or working on projects with his friends. After graduation, Brogan is planning to further his education by attending either Drexel University or Champlain College for Game Design.
