Enrichment students from Midd-West visited the Penn Valley Airport in Selinsgrove for a wonderful program with Drs. Victor and Sally Vogel.
The students enjoyed instruction in the physics of flight and careers in aviation. They also met the Geisinger Life Flight crew and interviewed them about their career paths and work. The crew received an emergency call directly after our visit, so we got to see their helicopter take off. While we were eating lunch, the helicopter returned, and two crew members came over to talk to the students about the mission they just completed.
Dr. Vogel took each of our students in the flight simulator for a private flying lesson. He sent each student home with a LEGO building set, courtesy of Jen Hain and the maker initiative she is involved with through the Degenstein Foundation.
